Commentaire Carmen Wine Maker's Reserve Red 2004

Vin Rouge produit par Vina Carmen sur , Chili

Appearance: dark purple, only slight orange rim. Nose: dark fruits and subtle oak (the black fruits coming in most forms: e.g. blackcurrant, blackberry, black plum, even prune), combined with other spicy and savoury aromas from the marriage of oak and fruit. Not much sign of development yet, however. Palate: ripe integrated fruit, good acidity, pleasant oak, but the tannins are a bit tight-knit just now. Good length. Conclusion: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Carmenere, 12.5% Syrah, 10% Merlot, 7.5% Petite Syrah, this spends a year in French oak and is clearly a high-quality Chilean blend sourced from the Maipo. I’d wait on it though, if you can. Drink 2010 onwards.
